During July and August, Media Arts Professor Russ Nordman and Jody Boyer, Adjunct Instructor held a two-person exhibition entitled ”Mechanical and Botanical” at three different venues (The Lawrence Art Center in Kansas, the Durango Art Center’s Barbara Conrad Gallery in Colorado, and the Oskaloosa Art Center in Iowa). Taken from his two “Combine” series, some of Russ Nordman’s Combine imagery reflected various Iowa counties, while other works featured fantastic recreations of historic vehicles and machinery. As an artist and naturalist, Jody Boyer is interested in the possibilities and tensions between human intervention and nature. Her wet cyanotype photograms showcase plants typically vilified and removed from manicured lawns and gardens.
