On June 24-25, 2019, Writer’s Workshop Assistant Professor and practicing poet Todd Robinson was a featured presenter at the annual Center for Research in Medical Devices at the National University of Ireland in Galway. The Scientific Director of the Conference, Professor Abhay Pandit, had invited Robinson to lead conference attendees in creative writing and public performance as part of the organization’s commitment to innovative curriculum and community engagement.

With eighty scientists, researchers, and post-doctorate students from around the world who attended the workshop, Todd introduced narrative, poetry, and considered the relation between form and content. Poems written during the day were read that evening as part of a “poetry slam” at a nearby pub, where the whole room was rapt in awe of the beauty they had wrought in a mere two hours.
